This is our youngest overnight program. Come join us for a three night adventure (Sun-Wed) to get an awesome introduction to camp for the new or experienced camper. During this shortened week, campers will have the opportunity to go through rotations of all the great camp activities, along with evenings are full of special events and campfires. It's a great time for younger campers to fall in love with camp and the outdoors.

Once again, Gretna Glen will be running two different weeks of Totally Awesome Random Fun. Give your camper a chance to spend a shortened week (Sun-Thurs) out at camp as they take part in all of camp's great activities with a little bit of a twist. You never know what kind of wacky adventures you might get into during one of these weeks.

Knack Track 

For children and youth having completed grades 5-8

Camp is full of activities that are great for all ages and abilities. Knack Track gives you an opportunity to go a little further with your camp experiences. Want to try out the next biggest DIY craft or test your skills in the kitchen? Are you interested in science, music, or photography but you don't have the resources at home to give them a shot? You're in luck! During this week of camp, campers will get to spend time doing each one of these specialty activities. Who knows, you might just find your knack while you enjoy the summer sun here at Gretna Glen.

 

Aqua Blast

Do you love water or do you wish you did? This camp will give you opportunities to explore all types of water activities in fantastic ways. Learn to snorkel in the pool, slide down the wacky foam water slide, compete in a crazy water Olympics, and have a blast at this new program. We'll also discover how water is so important in our Christian faith by keeping cool in order to be cool.

 

Night Owls

For children having completed grades 3-7

This week is for campers ready to take on the night! Two times during their stay campers will enjoy a midnight activity, followed by a morning to sleep in and eat a late breakfast. We’ll take advantage of all the fun that can be had after dark including awesome night games, glow in the dark activities, learning about nocturnal animals, star gazing, and night hiking.

 

Wilderness Adventures

Everyone longs for adventure. Why not find it on the Ridge with Wilderness Adventure? This program is for campers that have finished 3rd-6th grade, which makes this the youngest program that sleeps up on the Ridge. Campers will have the opportunity to cook some of their own meals over an open fire and sleep in rustic cabins with no electricity. We will spend the week learning different life-long survival skills and putting them to the test in an epic Wilderness Simulation. Let's see your wild side with Wilderness Adventures.

 

Latino Camp Children

Have you ever had an interest in horses and wanted an up close interaction with a real live horse? This week of camp is for you! Spend time learning about horses, talking about horses, grooming horses, riding horses, and making fun horse themed crafts! The Saddle Crew will travel to Ironstone Ranch in Elizabethtown, PA three times during the week for introductions to grooming and tacking, arena riding and trail riding.

Gretna Glen is excited to offer Totally Awesome Random Fun II two different times again this summer. Is it hard to pick a camp because you want to do it all, or you just can’t decide what you really like to do? If so, this camp is for you! Each year, we work hard developing new wacky and interesting games for campers that are up for unique experiences. Come and get a totally awesome random fun taste of everything camp has to offer!

 

OFF THE WALL 

For children having completed grades 3-7

This program is designed to give campers a chance to play all sorts of different games and sports while also trying out some different skills and talents. Do you want to sink that perfect shot or catch that beautiful spiral pass? Campers will learn healthy competition and how to be a gracious and respectful player while spending the week playing team sports and doing trick shots. Each morning will be non-stop action as campers will be face-to-face with some of Gretna Glen's greatest activities and challenges.

 

Musical Mania

Come check out a great week of music and fun! Spend time each day preparing a Christian musical while enjoying traditional camp activities. Our musicals feature singing, acting, and choreography. On Friday, at 6:00pm, campers will perform for family and friends. If you play an instrument, bring it along. Don’t worry if you think you’re not the best actor/singer; everyone has an important role to play. Join us for a fantastic musical experience.

Native American Adventure

Jesus is our Chief and guide. Camp out in platform tents on Wilderness Ridge, confront Challenge Courses, and engage in Native American traditions. Join the drum circle and purification ceremony.  Take time to let the forest share its stories. See how long you can stay awake exploring the night, staying quiet and having fun till we sleep under the stars. Go on a challenge hike off site and learn to live in harmony with God’s Creation. Our time together will be patterned after the Native American Vision Quest.

YOUTH BLAST: Climb On!  

For youth having completed grades 6-12

If you enjoy climbing to new heights, this camp is for you. "Climb On" campers will have the opportunity to go bouldering locally, climb our three-sided climbing tower, and learn all the basics of climbing safely. They will also have an opportunity to take a trip to a local outdoor rock climbing spot to take their skills to the next level. We will also take advantage of our high ropes course and zip line! Campers will come away with new skills and memories no matter their level of experience. Get ready to climb on!

 

Youth Blast: pedal paddle 

For youth having completed grades 6-12

This Youth Blast is for the campers that like to have adventures on land and water. Campers will take a trip up to Swatara State Park to bike along the Rails to Trails upstream and then canoe back down the river. This trip provides a great community building atmosphere as the campers explore together. While on camp, they will also get the opportunity to enjoy many of the challenges and activities that Gretna Glen has to offer, including our treetops zip line. Campers in this program should be comfortable on a bike.

Youth Blast: Blue Marsh Lake will be offered two separate times this summer! Campers will enjoy a great week exploring Gretna Glen, including an offsite excursion for a day of water fun at Blue Marsh Lake. Campers will enjoy a day of tubing behind a motorboat and swimming at the beach. While at camp you’ll get to challenge yourself on the high ropes course and fly through the air on the zip line!

 

Youth Blast: Camelbeach

This Youth Blast is designed to let you explore all that camp has to offer. From swimming and boating, to the challenge course and zip line, there are adventures around every corner. Unplug and get away from the everyday pressures around you while focusing on your faith. This camp will take a day trip to PA's Largest Water Park, Camelbeach Resort, to cool of in the heat of summer!

There's nothing quite like the great outdoors. This new program allows you to take that journey out into the wonderful adventures that God has created. During the week the group will take a trip to Ohiopyle to go white-water rafting on the Middle Youghiogheny River (Class I, II, III Rapids) and then spend the evening at a local campground, sleeping in tents. This is a great opportunity to make close friends and develop an even closer relationship with God.

 

THE GREAT ESCAPE II 

For youth having completed grades 10-12

The Great Escape II will take all of the adventures from The Great Escape I and amp them up to the next level. This program is for upper high school students that are interested in adventure and leadership.  During the week the group will take a trip to Ohiopyle to go white-water rafting on the Lower Youghiogheny River (Class III & IV Rapids) and then spend the evening at a local campground, sleeping in tents. When we're not exploring the wonders on nature, we will take time to understand the depths of God's love and what it means for our own faith. This program is great for CILTs and/or youth campers that are interested in challenging themselves.

After Hours

The setting of the sun begins the fun at After Hours. From late night high ropes, to swimming and soccer, no camp activity is called off on account of darkness. Work together to cook meals, play glow in the dark Frisbee and explore the night at Gretna Glen. We will have a blast during an all-night trip to Paramount Sports where you can climb, bounce, and swing until the sun comes up.

 

AFTER HOURS II  

For youth having completed grades 10-12

After Hours II is for the campers that have aged out of After Hours but still have the urge to stay up late and have fun in the dark. Campers will take advantage of late nights to take on adventures like high ropes and frisbee, under the stars.After Hours II will get to work together to cook meals as they spend the week living in community on the Ridge, along with the other campers of After Hours. They will travel to Paramount Sports one night for an all-night lock-in where they can jump, dive, and climb around on the equipment there.

Are you ready for an extreme summer adventure? Campers will challenge themselves on low and high ropes, go on a hike around camp, and even enjoy a day at Hersheypark. Spend time with fellow junior high campers while you have a blast at camp. This is a place for all of your summer fun.

 

Anglers & Archers 

For youth having completed grades 6-9

Anglers & Archers is for campers who love fishing and archery and would like to catch the big fish and release that perfect bulls-eye. Learn new technique or perfect your form at the camp lake or target range. Campers will take a trip to Lancaster Archery to play in the Archery Tag Arena.

 

 

Saddle Crew Girls II

For youth having completed grades 6-9

Are you crazy about horses but are too old for Saddle Crew Girls? This week of camp is just for you! Spend time learning about horses, grooming horses, and riding horses around the some trails! This is the week you have been waiting for!

Musical Encore 

For youth having completed grades 8-12           Program Director: Nannette Connolly & Sara Jackson

If music and drama is your thing, then this is the camp for you. Along with traditional camp activities, you will sing, act, and/or dance in a Biblically based musical. The show will be performed on Friday night following the Musical Mania performance. Adventure challenge courses and dynamite youth oriented activities make this week extra special.

 

Native American Adventures II  

For youth having completed grades 8-12

Jesus is our Chief and Guide. Campers will get hands-on understanding of this as they dive even deeper into Native American Traditions. We'll take some time to understand drum circles and purification ceremonies as well as take time to let the forest share its stories. Mid-week, the group will go on a challenging off-site hiking trip as they explore the wonders and mysteries of nature. This camp is great for campers who have aged out of Native American Adventures I.

Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) 

For youth ages 14-17 who want to serve as CILTs during the summer

Have you ever wanted to be on staff at camp, but aren’t old enough? This event is for you! This fun filled weekend includes a little bit of everything as you learn leadership skills and responsibilities of a CILT while enjoying time with your peers at camp! All aspects of summer camp ministry are explored under the supervision of adult leaders as you prepare for your role as a CILT in this summer’s program. This event is for any youth planning to help as a CILT at camp this summer. If you are not able to attend, you must make arrangements with Gretna Glen to complete the training needed to be a CILT.
