Mini Adventures 

For children having completed grades 1-3

This camp is designed for the children that are interested in trying out their first couple weeks of summer camp away from Mom and Dad. We take the time to introduce camp activities to the campers so that they can get comfortable with their gifts and develop skills that they will be able to use in years to come. A shortened week gives them an opportunity to enjoy all of the fun of overnight camp.

This is our youngest overnight program. Come join us for a three night adventure to get an awesome introduction to camp for the new or experienced camper. During this shortened week, campers will have the opportunity to go through rotations of all the great camp activities like boating, crafts, and even outdoor adventure. The evenings are full of special events and campfires. It's a great time for younger campers to fall in love with camp and the outdoors.

New for this year, we will be running two different weeks of Totally Awesome Random Fun. Give your camper a chance to spend a shortened week out at camp as they take part in all of camp's great activities with a little bit of a twist. Zoo Keepers  

For children having completed grades 3-7

If animals are your thing, then you will love this week at camp! Campers will spend the week learning about caring for animals and how they live in their natural and man-made habitats. We will spend some time meeting animal guests and taking a trip to a local zoo to continue to see and learn about animals. Campers will also get to take of some of camp's greatest adventures too. Don't miss out!

 

Talent seekers 

For children having completed grades 3-7

Everybody has their knack. Some are artistic, some enjoy music, and others like to embark in competition. Talent Seekers gives you the chance to build on these talents. This week you can choose between three different ways to spend your morning elective time! Bring it all together for a talent show on Thursday night where everyone can show off their new and improved talents. Your three options include: CREATE - These campers will take part in numerous artistic experiences like learning different photography skills, Do-It-Yourself Crafts, and even spend some time in the kitchen with the culinary arts. MOVE - These campers will combine popular camp games with new and exciting twists. JAM - This is for the campers that love the performing arts and have interest in learning guitar, percussion, piano, or vocals. Learn different introductory skills and put them together to perform as one band.

 

Night Owls

This week is for campers ready to take on the night! Two times during their stay campers will enjoy a midnight activity, followed by a morning to sleep in and eat a late breakfast. We’ll take advantage of all the fun that can be had after dark including awesome night games, glow in the dark activities, learning about nocturnal animals, star gazing, and night hiking. Learn about the light that shines through the darkness!

 

Wilderness Adventures

Are you ready to take your Gretna Glen experience to the next level? Try out Wilderness Adventure. This camp gives you the opportunity to stay in our rustic cabins at our Wilderness Ridge. Wilderness Adventure is for the 3-6th grade kids who are ready for an awesome chance to eat, play and live in a small community geared around having adventures in the woods! We will spend the week learning unique outdoor skills in preparation for a night under the stars. You’ll even get the opportunity to cook your meals over an open fire.

 

Children's Latino Camp

Are you crazy about horses? This week of camp is for you! Spend time learning about horses, talking about horses, grooming horses, riding horses, and making fun horse themed crafts! The Saddle Crew will travel to Ironstone Ranch three times during the week for introductions to grooming and tacking, arena riding and trail riding. Bring a friend and join the Saddle Crew!

 

Totally Awesome Random Fun II

Because of popularity, Totally Awesome Random Fun II will be offered two times this summer. Is it hard to pick a camp because you want to do it all, or you just can’t decide what you really like to do? If so, this camp is for you! Each day will have a different focus so campers get to try everything camp has to offer. Morning rotations include totally awesome or random fun twist on camp favorites. Come and get a totally awesome random fun taste of everything camp has to offer!

 

Adventure seekers

Adventure Seekers is designed with the adventurous campers in mind. Everybody has an activity that they love doing or want to try. This week you can choose between four different ways to spend your morning elective time! Anglers & Archers is for campers who love fishing and archery and would like to catch the big fish and release that perfect bullseye. Learn new technique or perfect your form at the lake or archery range. Experiments Galore is for the Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) minded campers who enjoy problem solving and trying out different experiments to understand how things work. Sports Zone gives campers an opportunity to practice skills and play different team sports each day while learning to develop as a team player. Outdoor Explorer is for the campers that like to go exploring and try out different survival techniques as they do adventurous activities out in nature. 

 

OFF THE WALL

We are excited to offer Off the Wall for the first time this summer. This program is designed to give campers a chance to play all sorts of of different games and sports while also trying out some different skills and talents. Campers will lean healthy competition and how to be a gracious and respectful player. It will be non-stop action as campers will be face-to-face with some of Gretna Glen's greatest activities and challenges.

 

Musical Mania

Come check out a great week of music and fun! Spend time each day preparing a Christian musical while enjoying traditional camp activities. Our musicals feature singing, acting, and choreography. On Friday perform for your friends and family who are invited to see the show and stay for a celebration. If you play an instrument, bring it along. Don’t worry if you think you’re not the best actor/singer; everyone has an important role to play. Join us for a fantastic musical experience.

Native American Adventure

Jesus is our Chief and guide. Camp out in platform tents on Wilderness Ridge, confront Challenge Courses, and engage in Native American traditions. Join the drum circle and purification ceremony.  Take time to let the forest share its stories. See how long you can stay awake exploring the night, staying quiet and having fun till we sleep under the stars. Go on a challenge hike off site and learn to live in harmony with God’s Creation. Our time together will be patterned after the Native American Vision Quest.

Youth Blast: pedal paddle 

For youth having completed grades 6-12

This Youth Blast is for the campers that like to have adventures on land and water. Campers will take a trip up to Swatara State Park to bike along the Rail 2 Trail upstream and then canoe back down the river. This trip provides a great community building atmosphere as the campers explore together. While on camp, they will also get the opportunity to enjoy many of the challenges and activities that Gretna Glen has to offer.

Youth Blast will enjoy a great week exploring Gretna Glen including an offsite excursion for a day of water fun at Blue Marsh Lake. Campers will enjoy a day of water sports including skiing, tubing and swimming at the beach. While at camp you’ll get to challenge yourself on the high ropes course and fly through the air on the 450 ft. zip line!

 

Youth Blast: Camelbeach

For youth having completed grades 6-12

Youth Blast is designed to let you explore all that camp has to offer, from swimming and boating to the challenge course and campfires. Experience God while being able to unplug and get away from the everyday pressures around you. This camp will take a day trip to Camelbeach Water Park to enjoy the heat of summer!

There's nothing quite like the great outdoors. This new program allows you to take that journey out into the wonderful adventures that God has created. The Great Escape will spend time on camp doing all the awesome activities Gretna Glen has to offer. During the week the group will take a trip to Ohiopyle to go white-water rafting on the Lower Youghiogheny River and then spend the evening on the Laurel Highlands trail camping out. This is a great opportunity to make close friends and develop an even closer relationship with God.

 

After Hours

The setting of the sun begins the fun at After Hours. From late night high ropes to swimming and soccer-no camp activity is called off on account of darkness. Work together to cook meals, play glow in the dark Frisbee and explore the night at Gretna Glen. We will have a blast during an all-night trip to Paramount Sports where you can climb, bounce, and swing until the sun comes up. Come all night owls and join us for After Hours!

 

AFTER HOURS II  

For youth having completed grades 10-12

After Hours II is for the campers that have aged out of After Hours but still have the urge to stay up late and have fun in the dark. Campers will get to work together to cook meals and explore camp at night. They will travel to Paramount Sports one night for an all-night lock-in where they can jump, dive, and climb around on the equipment there.

Camper in Leadership Training (CILT) Event 

For youth ages 14-17 who want to serve as CILTs during the summer

Have you ever wanted to be on staff at camp, but aren’t old enough? This event is for you! This fun filled weekend includes a little bit of everything as you learn leadership skills and responsibilities of a CILT while enjoying time with your peers at camp! All aspects of summer camp ministry are explored under the supervision of adult leaders as you prepare for your role as a CILT in this summer’s program. This event is for any youth planning to help as a CILT at camp this summer. If you are not able to attend, you must make arrangements with Gretna Glen to complete the training needed to be a CILT.
