Summer Staff Opportunities

Looking to join our Summer Staff team? There are many opportunities to serve with us.

Volunteer Information

In addition to the paid-staff, volunteer support is needed each week to provide a wonderful camp experience for our campers. Many of our volunteers have grown up as campers or were former summer staff. Volunteers apply each year to be a part of the team and complete all the same background checks as summer and year-round staff. Training is provided prior to the week that they serve.

We need volunteers in these areas:

• Cabin Counselors
• Food Service
• Program
• Nursing/Health Care (With RN, LPN, EMT Certifications)
• Site & Facilities

Step 1:
All potential Volunteers must complete a Volunteer Application On-Line at least 6 weeks prior to their week of service along with supplying 3 references. 
 
All volunteers must receive training before serving at Gretna Glen. During the training we will discuss essential safety protocols and procedures for making camp a safe place to be. You will be given training resources to watch prior to your service with Gretna Glen.

Step 2:
Following the acceptance of the Volunteer Application our staff will reply via email with Step 2 details, which will include the required clearances and instructions on how to complete each one. All volunteers are required to have the following up to date and on file with our office prior to their service:

• PA State Police Criminal Record Check – Must be dated within the last year from when you will volunteer at Gretna Glen.
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance – Must be dated within the last five years of when you will volunteer at Gretna Glen.
• FBI Criminal History Record Check (Fingerprinting) - Only required from volunteers who have lived out of Pennsylvania in the last 10 consecutive years.
• Voluntary Disclosure Statement – Collected ever year.
• Ministry Safe Online Training – This sexual abuse awareness training takes approximately 2 hours and must be completed by our volunteers every other year.

Seasonal Staff-Non Summer

Gretna Glen also employs hourly weekend staff to help us serve a variety of groups including: youth, adult, school and corporate for overnight and day use.  These staff are hired as needed depending on our group usage.
