Today's lesson discussed how Jesus calls us to be good neighbors by showing mercy to others. "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; Love your neighbor as yourself" -Luke 10:27. Camp is a wonderful place to learn about being a good neighbor as you spend time with friends old and new.
Today was a very toasty tie-dye Tuesday at Gretna Glen, but the campers didn't let the heat stop them from having an amazing time. This morning while Youth Blast Boat Adventure was off for a hike with a packed lunch, Summer's First Burst spent some time in the nature center and Wilderness Adventure learned all about orienteering as the practiced using a compass. After lunch and a bit of rest time all of the overnight programs had some afternoon choice time until dinner. Evening activities included more Gaga ball, mountain pies, and cardboard boats before R.O.C.K, where the campers were able to see all of their favorite summer staffers put on a show. As things wind down for the evening, Summer's First Burst will get to enjoy an outdoor movie and Wilderness Adventure will enjoy some special nightime gaga.
Day Camp made the most of their hot day with lots of water activities! The campers all went "critter catchin'" in the creek where they found a variety of aquatic insects and even a few frogs and fishing in the lake where they caught some sunnies and were entertained by a few turtles who kept popping up to say hello. The campers also made masks to look like a variety of animals, and the older kids even played some games in the water sprinkle! After lunch was the perfect time to cool off in the pool and play on the waterslide.
