85 degrees/lots of sunshine
Today the campers discussed courage, bravery, and resiliency. "But Jesus immediately said to them: 'Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.'" -Matthew 14:27
Today was a beautiful day to enjoy the outdoors at camp. After breakfast Grown Up and Me did some nature activities, their Bible lesson and played in the construction zone (sand) and playground. Latino Camp also started with their Bible discovery before the younger kids had a nature activity and the older kids tried the climbing tower and flying squirrel. Epic Explorers had their Bible time followed by some exploratory play time. Youth Blast spend most of their day off site doing some hiking. After lunch all of the on-site programs had a little rollover time before afternoon options. The pool and fishing were extremely popular today (kids caught at least 40 fish during options!) Youth Blast returned in time for dinner and all of the programs enjoyed a buffet style dinner. Grown Up and Me had and evening pool party and finished their evening with a campfire. The other programs played an all-camp game in the meadow. Latino Camps young campers then had their own pool party and the older campers played capture the flag. Epic explorers practiced their archery skills before their glow party, and youth blast had a camp fire at the Village and will be sleeping under the stars tonight.
Day camp started their morning with worship and a snack. The younger groups then enjoyed rec time on the playground, sand, and ZEEK nature center while the older groups played gaga and 9-square. Morning rotations included todays "leave no trace" activity, fishing, and boating before lunch. This afternoon the kids cooled off on the pool and waterslide. Later the younger campers had story time with their snack, did a bug activity, and created animal footprints in clay and the older kids had a very adventurous creek stomp. Their day ended with their closing in Funk Center.
