82 degrees/scattered storms throughout day
Today the campers learned about how Jesus' love for us and His gift of Living Water are freely given; there is nothing we have to do to receive them. "But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life." -John 4:14
This week Gretna Glen welcomes My Early Camping Adventure (MECA), After Hours I and II, and Climb on. Later in the week we will also be joined by Grown Up and Me. Our first full day of the week was a good lesson in patience and flexibility as the weather kept changing our plans. After breakfast MECA had some time to enjoy a little sunshine while boating and fishing before moving inside for Adventures of the Imagination. After Hours I had their Bible Discovery time and were then challenged by some team building activities in Funk Center. After Hours II was able to work on their team building skills outside in the sun before heading indoors for their Bible Discovery. Climb On took shelter in the Village pavilion for their Bible Discovery and for Adventures of the Imagination. The rain cleared just in time for lunch. Due to the predicted forecast, the afternoon schedule was switched around a bit. Campers skipped rollover and got ready for their swim evaluations just in time for another storm. MECA and Climb on headed to rollover time and all of the After Hours Campers went to the welcome pavilion where they checked out the camp store and entertained themselves (and their counselors) with a Disney sing-along. MECA was able to get out and play some awesome parachute games after dinner. They then enjoyed root beer floats as their snack before Bible Discovery, a story, and bed time. Climb On spent their evening bouldering before learning how to leave no trace and build a fire. They then made baked apples in the fire for their snack. After Hours is STILL AWAKE and going strong. This evening after dinner they had an unique choice time where campers could choose one option. Yoga, Spanish Lesson (they learned to rap in Spanish), advance gimping or Shrinky dink making. They are currently in group rotations making homemade ice cream in a bag, climbing tower and doing the flying squirrel.
The theme for day camp this week is Float 2 Flight. They began their week with their morning worship and snack before playing some get-to-know-you games. The younger kids rotated through the Imagination Garden and Fishing while the older kids had a rubber duck race. After lunch everyone played some water games before heading to Funk Center when the storm started. There they made trees like Zacchaeus climbed then spent some time coloring and playing with legos.
Despite the weather, all of the campers had a great day and we look forward to an awesome rest of the week.
