LEADERS IN TRAINING
Do you want to be a role model this summer? Do you love the Christian Camp Experience? Is learning to work with children something you would like to invest your time in and learn more about? Will you be 13-15 years old this summer?
If so, our Leaders In Training (LIT) Program is designed for you! This program will help you gain leadership experience and serve as a role model for younger campers while assisting counselors and staff with summer camp activities. LITs will grow in character, confidence, and leadership led by experienced Program Directors and Summer Staff members serving as mentors. By learning to lead campers in games, songs, and Bible Discovery, LITs get to learn about ministry and be a part of making camp fun!
To apply to be an LIT:
- Complete the online application
- Ask 2 people to be references Reference Form (share with your references)
- Follow all steps outlined in the online process, including selecting an LIT Training date and at least 3 program options that align with your availability
Directions for completing the online application:
- Note: Application for the LIT program is within the same system as camper registrations (CampBrain). Most of the registration process through CampBrain may be done by the parent or guardian—however, the LIT should be the one who completes the “Leaders In Training (LIT) Application”, which is found in the Forms tab of the registration process.
- If the LIT has been a Gretna Glen camper before, please use their existing camper account to apply, within your family’s household account.
- If the LIT has not been a Gretna Glen camper, please create a new account—this includes setting up your Household Information. This should be done by the parent or guardian, who will then add the LIT as a camper within the household.
- After signing in, scroll to the bottom of the “Sessions” page until you see the Leaders In Training session option. Click to expand it, and select the green “Add to cart” button.
- Next, choose one of the three LIT Training options below. Once you know which training you can attend, select the green button to the right.
- On the next tab, add any money you want to spend at the Snackery for the week.
- Next, complete the required forms, including the LIT's completion of the “Leaders In Training (LIT) Application” - this is where the LIT will provide their information, references, preferred dates to be an LIT, and motivations for joining our LIT program.
- After each form is complete, move on to the payment section - note that there is no payment due until the specific program is finalized and we register the LIT.
- Last, complete the Review and Confirmation steps of the registration—congratulations, you have now officially applied for the Gretna Glen LIT program!
Once we have received your application and completed reference forms, we will reach out to register you for the camp program you would like to work with!
*Note: The total fee for the LIT program is $50.00, which will be collected after your specific program is picked out. This is to cover the cost of your meals. After we decide together on the best program option for you, we will be in touch to collect this payment. There is no payment due upon registering for the program.
LIT Training Event
All LITs must receive in-person training before serving at Gretna Glen. Training will prepare you with all of the knowledge and tools you need to know about being a leader at Gretna Glen. Through engaging activities and lessons, we will learn songs, games, and skits, along with important safety protocols and procedures for making camp a fun and safe place to be. Attendance at one of these three training options is mandatory to serve as an LIT, as it gives us an opportunity to get to know you and helps make your week as an LIT great! Training will run from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. A detailed schedule of training will be provided to you beforehand.
- Saturday, May 9 (same day as Open House)
- Sunday, May 31 (same day as S’mores & Tours)
- Sunday, June 14 (the Sunday before Gretna Glen’s Week 1)
Please Note: Applying to be an LIT does not guarantee acceptance into the LIT program.
