One of our flagship youth opportunities, our Youth Blast programs focus on building community with each other here at Gretna Glen before taking on an adventure off site. Youth Blast campers spend their week learning new skills at program activities, and playing night games, and feeling the good vibes of Christian camp community as one body.

This Outpost site program is ideal for youth to adventure in the great outdoors and master some outdoor skills with new friends. This program will provide valuable opportunities to learn and practice many important wilderness techniques and ideas including: 

• Compass and Map Orienteering 
• Fire Building Competency 
• Hiking (Planning, Pacing, Water Management) 
• Leave No Trace Ethics 
• Basic Wilderness First Aid 
• Leadership Skills and Small Group Leadership Opportunities 

The focus of this program will be an immersive experience in which a small group of youth (14) will navigate a rustic outpost setting (Large Group Canopy Tents). Their program will culminate with the group embarking on a single day “trek” in which they design and plan a hike or similar adventure, and then embark on their journey under the watchful eye of experienced camp staff.

All Gretna Glen children and youth campers will have the opportunity to share in the camp experience filled with singing, Bible Discovery, worship, crafts, nature, swimming, boating, fishing, campfires, hiking, archery, sports, games, and much more. Each program is designed specifically to be age-appropriate, and specialized staff are trained to ensure a high-quality and well-structured program.

This is considered an “OUTPOST” or “RIDGE” program.

Gretna Glen is accredited by the American Camp Association. To earn accreditation, Gretna Glen complies with more than 300 health, safety and program quality standards. This accreditation is vital to the safety of our campers and guests while holding us to a high standard of excellence.
