Are you longing for adventure? Come to Gretna Glen and find it on The Ridge! Cook some of your meals over a fire YOU built, learn the basics of wilderness first aid, construct shelters from natural materials, learn how to purify water from our creeks, and hang a bear bag up a tree before sleeping a night out under the stars. (Don’t worry – there aren’t any bears at Gretna Glen!) All of these skills will be prefaced with a lesson on the principles of Leave No Trace, emphasizing the importance of minimizing human impact on the natural environment. A life lived for Jesus is an adventure in itself, and this week will teach us how to tackle new adventures and new skills with creation as our teacher and Jesus as our guide.

This program is an awesome introduction to outpost camping at Gretna Glen. Outpost camping at the Ridge is rustic camping (no electric), but with water and bathroom access close by. Campers will either be sleeping on cots in canvas platform tents (canopy style) or in rustic cabins with bunk bed style accommodations. The week will conclude with an epic wilderness simulation! Embrace the wilderness of Gretna Glen with Wilderness Adventure!

All Gretna Glen children and youth campers will have the opportunity to share in the camp experience filled with singing, Bible Discovery, worship, crafts, nature, swimming, boating, fishing, campfires, hiking, archery, sports, games, and much more. Each program is designed specifically to be age-appropriate, and specialized staff are trained to ensure a high-quality and well-structured program.

This is considered an “OUTPOST” or “RIDGE” program.

Gretna Glen is accredited by the American Camp Association. To earn accreditation, Gretna Glen complies with more than 300 health, safety and program quality standards. This accreditation is vital to the safety of our campers and guests while holding us to a high standard of excellence.
