a week that's right on target
Archery, Fishing, and Jesus. If that sounds like a great way to spend the week, then this camp is for you! Our Anglers and Archers will take fishing to another level with some dedicated lake time to fish from boats. And early morning devotions with a fishing rod in hand will help us to consider God’s calling to make us all “Fishers of people”. They’ll also have not one, not two, but three dedicated hours for archery instruction and practice.
Anglers and Archers campers will also have plenty of time for all the classic camp fun—swimming, boating, gaga ball, high ropes, arts and crafts, and more. Prior archery and fishing experience is not required. Whether you’re a bass master or completely new to anything with hooks or bowstrings, we are excited to use these sports as avenues to build lasting community with each other. Join us for a fun week full of shooting bullseyes, catching bass, and taking in the beauty of nature!
Our Goals for every camper
Our goal for all overnight campers is to create an environment where they can THRIVE:
Try new experiences
Camp is great exposure to new people, news skills, and new challenges.
Hear Good News
We are here to share in the joy of knowing and following Jesus Christ!
Reset and Renew
We work hard to create a place where campers can be themselves, unplug from devices, and rest.
Inspire One Another
Community experiences and culture creation are intentional, key aspects of every week.
Value Themselves
Campers learn they can do more than they thought possible by learning and growing all week long.
Explore Possibilites
Campers are encouraged to ask questions about their faith, their future, and their world.
Why This Program Works
Anglers and Archers is built for a different kind of camper than the ones who thrive on high-energy variety weeks. This is the program for the kid who would rather spend an hour on the archery line than twenty minutes at each of six activities. The kid who is content to wait for the fish to bite because the waiting is half the point.
The pace reflects that. Mornings start quietly. The range opens after devotions. Fishing happens when the lake is still. By the end of the week, campers have picked up real skills and real friendships with other kids who love the same kind of slow outdoor rhythm.
WHERE YOU'LL STAY
Campers stay in cabins on Gretna Glen's main campus. Cabins feature bunk beds, a changing area, and a modern shower house built in 2018. A counselor is assigned to every cabin. Gaga, Games & Gimp Galore is a mainsite program, so campers eat meals in the Dining Hall and have full access to all of Gretna Glen's main campus facilities.
WHAT PARENTS SHOULD KNOW
All archery instruction is led by trained staff. Equipment is provided. Fishing gear is also provided, though campers are welcome to bring their own if they prefer.
Gretna Glen is ACA-accredited, meeting over 300 health, safety, and quality standards. Staff are Ministry Safe and UMC Risk Management trained. All skill levels are welcome, from first-time archers to experienced youth anglers.
